This guy is such a dipshit. There was an article in the Spokesman today comparing John Ahern with his opponent John Driscoll and the subject of gay marriage came up and, um, watch out. Mr. Ahern states that:
"A gay act is an abomination, number one."
Wow. So, obviously, he's not attempting to appeal to any GLBT-friendly swing voters. He continues:
"And number two is the fact that it goes against all major religions, Christian, Catholic, Jewish and, also, Islam."
So, let me get this straight: We have to outlaw anything that goes against "major" religions? And are you sure that you listed all of the major religions, Mr. Ahern? Next up, of course, is the typical oops-I-may-have-taken-my-bigoted-comments-a-bit-too-far attempted recovery (included in the audio comments and not in the article text):
"My feeling when it comes to gays, you know, is you love the sinner, but hate the sin."
He then goes on and on about how well he works with "the gays" in the Legislature. So well, in fact, that Seattle representative Jamie Pedersen, whom Ahern personally insulted back in January has gone out of his way to endorse John Driscoll.
So, in summary, if you are gay:
- You are an abomination
- You are opposed by every major religion
- You are a sinner
- But, John Ahern loves you

John Ahern is a mean-spirited, bigoted ass who obviously wants to impose his narrow-minded views on the State of Washington. Please, please, please vote for John Driscoll! Please! We need to retire Ahern now!
